The family moved to Chisago City, MN when she was a small child. She graduated from Chisago City High School in 1936 and then attended a business school. She married her high school sweetheart, Lester Conklin on May 27, 1939. They lived in Minneapolis until they retired to Mesa, Arizona in the early 1970's. Lester died in 1997. Hazel moved to Owatonna in 2012 to be closer to her family. She lived at Countryside and then moved to Traditions II. Hazel worked at Honeywell for over 20 years. In retirement, the couple wintered in Arizona and during the summer months traveled in their Airstream all over the United States - often times enjoying the company of their children and grandchildren on their travels. Hazel loved the adventure of travel and was always looking forward to her next trip. Hazel's greatest joy was centered in the love she shared with her family. A true caregiver for all who needed her, Hazel was also the ultimate hostess and loved to share her exceptional cooking and baking talents with her family and friends.
